Os desafios de uma esquerda enfraquecida frente à abertura de um novo ciclo político serão analisados no próximo debate online da série Futuros do Brasil, realizada pelo Centro de Estudos Estratégicos da Fiocruz. A discussão se dará em torno do livro Esquerda: crise e futuro, do professor e pesquisador José Maurício Domingues, do Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Políticos da Uerj e pesquisador associado do CEE-Fiocruz. Ao seu lado, participará do debate a professora Ingrid Sarti, do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Economia Política Internacional (Pepi-UFRJ), fazendo comentários à exposição do autor. O evento será realizado em 1 de junho de 2017, e como nos demais debates online da série, a participação é virtual. Qualquer pessoa pode se conectar pelo CEE-Fiocruz, acompanhar o debate em tempo real e fazer perguntas aos participantes.
No livro, José Maurício Domingues discute as perspectivas da esquerda, do século 19 às alternativas contemporâneas, conectando a discussão às escolhas feitas pela esquerda brasileira nas últimas décadas. “Busco apresentar que novos processos se apresentam e que respostas a esquerda precisa construir estrategicamente, para além do social liberalismo e do neodesenvolvimentismo, com o apoio ao combate à corrupção (neopatrimonialismo) que grassa no Estado brasileiro e com uma nova coalizão”, explica.
Segundo o professor, o longo ciclo democratizante iniciado nos anos 1970 se esgotou, juntamente com o fim do ciclo de hegemonia do Partido dos Trabalhadores na esquerda e na centro-esquerda, “desaguando em uma crise geral do sistema político, que acabou se caracterizando como gangsterismo político”. Como observa, “um novo ciclo está se abrindo e sua direção está em disputa no momento”.
José Maurício defende a importância de se buscar traçar uma nova agenda política calcada no aprofundamento radical da democracia e direitos universais. “Essa agenda precisa estar baseada numa aliança dos setores populares com as classes médias, pequenos empresários etc. Isso tem que se fundar na aliança de uma nova centro-esquerda, emergente, e a esquerda que hoje é pluralizada e na qual os jovens reivindicam mais horizontalidade nas relações de poder”, aponta.
