He is extremely conceited, and loves to show off his wealth in any way possible. Tom is also very racist and a jerk. He does not treat Daisy as he should. If he truly loved her he would not continuously have affairs. As opposed to Gatsby who has done nothing but try to do everything possible to attempt to win Daisy back. Tom makes it seem as if he only cares about himself.
