While I walk my mind churns over my current project and I form the perfect prose to capture my thoughts. New ideas flit in and out of my head as quickly as the birds fly overhead.

Technology seemed like the perfect answer. Speech to text options abound and are pretty good these days. It was a complete failure.

I found myself rambling unable to follow any coherent train of thought. So I tried again the next day, this time with a clear story idea that I expected to flow easily. My spouse complains about how frequently I stop mid-sentence because a new thought has just occurred to me and I need to process it a second before I can continue. So in retrospect, the outcome I Am A Better Writer have been obvious. Dictating my writing was never going to be an effective tool for me. The experience made me realize that far from being a waste of time my daily walks are a valuable part of the writing process for me. I need that time where my mind runs free without trying to capture and set those thoughts in concrete. My thoughts can crash and flow, abruptly jumping from one point to the next, source and turning at will.
