Watched Nov 21 Man, I truly wanted Fincher to complete this entire trilogy. It would have been my Twilight. I am totally on Team Salander. Her character is fantastic and she is the shit to the Nth degree. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie saw a very similar circumstance the previous Christmas, when their star-selling vehicle The Tourist also flopped. The Hunger Games strictly for grown-ups per se. I think the December release worked against it. This is not necessarily a film mainstream audiences would want to see at the peak of the holidays.

It has a pretty negative outlook on the world. Even the final scene has this sense of emotional nihilism to it. Man, that is a really really difficult scene to sit Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This film is a very rare instance where a remake is better than the original. A lot of that is owed Giirl the casting. Rooney Mara commits to this character profoundly. Daniel Craig Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a great choice for the male lead of Mikael Blomkvist.

He nailed the characteristics that the role demanded. The supporting wtih is also fantastic. Each one of them just fits wonderfully into the cast of characters. The production for this was also very interesting. Much like Fincher has done in many of his films, there are very meticulously hidden visual effects in a lot of scenes. In a lot of ways, I feel this would have worked quite well as a six episode miniseries on one of the streaming giants. The story adapted from the book is very drawn out and complex, and the film actually takes place teh the span of a year.

Which interestingly enough, makes is the closest thing to a Christmas movie David Fincher has ever made. Despite its somewhat rushed feeling, I still really really dig this movie.

The characters are grimly engrossing and it feels a lot like a goth industrial take on Nancy Drew. This cast is irreplaceable. Salander is quite a complex character. You understand her, and most importantly, you root for her. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This review may contain spoilers.
