Merck apresenta técnica de edição gênica no ILMD/ Fiocruz Amazônia
Na última quinta-feira (16/02), pesquisadores, servidores e bolsistas do Instituto Leônidas & Maria Deane (ILMD/Fiocruz Amazônia) participaram das palestras técnicas “CRISPR: ferramenta de edição gênica” e “Sistema Luminex – tecnologia multiparamétrica na determinação de biomarcadores”, ministradas pelo Gerente de Produtos e responsável pelas plataformas de biotecnologia da empresa Merck, Misael Silva.
Na ocasião, o palestrante divulgou uma técnica de edição gênica, intitulada CRISPR, que segundo ele, “é uma das promessas científicas para a cura de doenças genéticas, que até o momento representam grande desafio para a pesquisa”. O Objetivo das palestras foi apresentar algumas atualizações tecnológicas e possibilitar uma troca de experiências com o público.
O CRISPR é uma nova metodologia que permite adicionar ou retirar sequências específicas do genoma celular. A ação permite apagar um gene defeituoso ou adicionar um gene ausente em uma célula defectiva. “Esse tipo de abordagem permite que você possa corrigir problemas genéticos, seja pela deleção da mutação desse gene durante o desenvolvimento do organismo, ou para corrigir e adicionar um gene inexistente”, explicou.
Outra tecnologia apresentada foi o Sitema Luminex, uma técnica multiparamétrica, que possibilita constituir vários indicadores e informações ao mesmo tempo. A tecnologia permite ao pesquisador “agilizar o andamento do projeto, pois se consegue mais informações em menos tempo, economizando recursos, diminuindo a quantidade de insumos laboratoriais, sejam eles reagentes, pessoas ou tempo para obter a mesma quantidade de informações dos métodos tradicionais”, disse Misael.
Para Felipe Naveca, vice-diretor de Pesquisa do ILMD, o momento possibilita ao público uma aproximação maior com novos temas e técnicas, que futuramente podem ser usados. “Algumas técnicas que você ouve falar, mas não tem a oportunidade de ver detalhado por um especialista no assunto ou na tecnologia, que pode te ajudar a tirar dúvidas. Acredito que hoje, muitas pessoas já saíram da palestra pensando em como utilizar essas tecnologias em seus projetos”.

É possível perceber que a Fiocruz está sempre na vanguarda quando você compara com outros institutos que trabalham com o mesmo tema, então isso é muito interesse, pois para nós a Fundação funciona como um ponto de referência”.
