She was Yang was born in Laos in When she was 5 years old, she crossed the Mekong River seeking refuge in Thailand, where she lived in refugee camps for several years until she could immigrate to the U. What followed was a life of educating students with passion, a knack for working with kids and a talent for sharing the Hmong culture with the community.
