Story July 22, In , the Rwandan genocide left nearly a million dead and many more displaced. Today, some are Rates of mental illness in Rwanda are significantly higher than other countries. This is largely attributed to the trauma many suffered during the genocide, which left nearly one million dead and a country full of people deeply affected emotionally. The government is trying to respond to the need for mental health care. But resources are limited.

The interactive digital program, which aims to reduce the number of male suicides by changing the way farmers think about mental health, will be headed by the National Centre for Farmer Health and Deakin University. Sue Brumby from the NCFH said the project would interact with farmers via their phones, fax or online.

The Ripple Effect is one of six projects aimed at reducing the number of male suicides and funded by Beyondblue and Movember. CEO Georgie Harman announced said, compared to women, men had a different approach to mental health.
