Snaking its Ggeat along kilometres of rugged coastline, source highway passes quiet coves and the head-turning 12 Apostles, not to mention countless quaint towns and villages. Head chef Kane Vokoun, formerly of MoVida Aqui, helms the kitchen, creating a collection of dishes that, like the original restaurant, are traditional Spanish and modern Australian with a twist.

Here, the focus is on keeping ingredients close to home. The menu showcases local seafood and other produce from the hinterland; duck is sourced from local farms and fish come straight out of the bay.

Kane suggests starting with the romesco de peix, a traditional Catalan dish of seafood braised in a romesco sauce made from seafood bisque, brandy, almonds, hazelnuts and roasted red peppers. Pair it with the Yalumba Barossa Bush Vine Grenache slightly chilled, a red that complements the richness of the dish and, with its lighter style, is Ausgrali nice counter to the rich seafood and romesco. Or you could try the Great Ocean duck pate with fig leaf and brambleberry, says Kane again, should you be fortunate enough to see it on the menu.
