I think it was a NZ or Australian based book because I remember seeing here NZ city in the book where the main character lived.

The book starts off with a young girl who is unpleased with her mother and they get into an argument which leads the girl to run up a hill and ultimately crash down. She then goes into a coma in the real life but while in her coma she wakes up in another time setting, possibly travelling back in time something like the early 40s etc.

The book focuses on her new life in the time setting she is in and adapting to her new life, she meets a girl named Margaret and they become best friends. I can't remember how long she lives there for but I do remember that at the end, her and Margaret try to run away on a boat in a river, I think for some reason I can't remember but the currents were too strong and they both got thrown off the boat and drift apart. After she recovers from her coma, I think she goes back to living her normal life but the realistic feeling of her dream made her wonder if it Argumentt dream. She ends up travelling to the location where her "dream" happened and everything just felt like dejavu then she goes to a cemetery where she finds the tombstone of Margaret, her dream and on the tombstone it says that she drowned Margaret Sanger s The Argument For Teenage the river with her friend, whos body was never recovered.

It ends with her realizing that the "dream" was actually real. I remember crying my eyes out and how much I loved the book but sadly I had never seen it again.
