Act 2, Scene I. During that time Macbeth enters, and Banquo was surprised to see him awake at this moment. He tells Macbeth that the king is asleep and he also mention about the dream to the three wired sisters. When Banquo says that the witches has revealed some truth to Macbeth, Macbeth claims that he has not thought about the trio after their first encounter. When Banquo and his son bid their goodbye and leave the place, in the poorly lit hall, Macbeth has a hallucination of a dagger floating in the air before him, handle pointing towards his hand and the tip pointing towards Duncan.
He tries to grab the weapon but fails then he wonders that whether what he sees is real or not. He sees blood on the tip of dagger, then shortly decides that Shakdspeare vision is just a symptom of his unease over killing the king. The night around Macbeth seems very thick with horror and wizardry, but he solidifies and determines to do his bloody plan. Act 2, Scene II.

While Macbeth leaves the hall, Lady Macbeth enters the hall to inspect that whether the plan is going well or not. She is imagining killing of Duncan as she speaks. Upon hearing Macbeth crying she thinks that the chamberlains have awakened. She cannot understand how Macbeth could fail.

She emphasises that she would have killed the king herself. Macbeth appears, his hand was covered in blood, and says that the deed is done. His whole body was shaking and he states that he heard the chamberlains awake and say their prayer before going back to Otthello. She tells Macbeth to take the dagger, but he refuses to go back into the room, so she takes the dagger into the room herself saying that she is not coward as Macbeth. As Lady Macbeth returns to the hall, the knocking happens again, and then a third time too.]
