No sympathy for them. What struck me was people that realize they're on benefits, realize that they might lose these benefits There are people out there that WANT to work - there are people that are not "temporarily embarrassed millionaires" but are just "embarrassed" because they are on public assistance. I never really gave a lot of thought to these types of people that KNOW they will lose their insurance, but are fine with it because they KNOW they are going to have jobs. It sucks. The economy has sucked for them for the past 8 years and this guy Why The New Obamacare Is A Better in and says "What have you got to lose? The thing about your last sentence is that they actually have plenty to lose. They just don't realize it yet. I mean, not having health insurance is pretty bad. Medical bankruptcy is a lot more embarrassing and stressful than being on welfare.
No matter where you are and what your situation is in the US, it is far far better than the average individual's situation in 3rd world countries. There is far far more room at the bottom and the worst off in the most prosperous country have a long way to fall. So best case, some shitty coal jobs come back with employer sponsored healthcare that also sucks? Thats a huge lie. Mining engineers are coming out of school making six figures-- because one engineer can replace dozens of miners. That's what I always think, we need to invest more in education for many states.
