Muhammad Hosni El Sayed Mubarak [a] 4 May — 25 February was an Egyptian military and political leader who served as the fourth president of Egypt from to Before he entered politics, Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force. He served as its commander from to and rose to the rank of air chief marshal in Mubarak's presidency lasted almost thirty years, making him Egypt's longest-serving ruler since Muhammad Ali Pasha , who ruled the country for 43 years from to On 13 April , a prosecutor ordered Mubarak and both of his sons Alaa and Gamal to be detained for 15 days of questioning about allegations of corruption and abuse of power. After sentencing, he was reported to have suffered a series of health crises. On 13 January , Egypt's Court of Cassation the nation's high court of appeal overturned Mubarak's sentence and ordered a retrial. Mubarak died on 25 February , aged Mubarak served as an Egyptian Air Force officer in various formations and units; he spent two years in a Spitfire fighter squadron. The present version is woefully incomplete, particularly as regards the sources in Persian and Arabic and the Persian language scholarship. It no doubt contains many inaccuracies also. It could very quickly grow to real usefulness if the friends will be so good as to draw up contents tables of their Persian and Arabic books — a useful thing to have anyway — and send these to me to here. The time is approaching when individual entries should be checked, edited, and the information contained in the various discussions collated, so that the entry becomes something like an encylopaedia article on the tablet in question rather than just a universal index.
