Inat one and a half years old, Tony Estrada said that he immigrated to the United States with his mother and three brothers.

Then, 22 years later, he started his law enforcement career as a patrol officer for the Nogales Police Department. Estrada retired after serving 25 years with the department as a captain, second in command and interim chief under three administrations. Then inhe was elected Santa Cruz County sheriff. He went on to serve seven terms spanning 28 years.
