Robert Beattie died from his injuries after his home was set on fire. Two Liverpool drug dealers carried out a terrifying arson attack in which a Skelmersdale man died, a court heard. Connah Jenkinson described how Liverpool gang boss Terrence Walker burst into Robert Beattie's home and began dousing the floor with petrol. Jenkinson said that Paul Forster, also a leading member of the gang, followed Walker into the house during the attack in the early hours of September 26, Jenkinson, 25, of Kremlin Drive in Tuebrook, who said that he sold drugs for Walker, told Preston Crown court how the gang boss began squirting a bottle of petrol inside the home of Mr Beattie after the Skelmersdale man opened his front door. Mr Beattie, 41, suffered appalling burns and later died from his injuries. The suspects, as well as John Farrimond, of Windrows in Skelmersdale, have also pleaded not guilty to arson with intent to endanger life in relation to an attack on a different home in the town in the hours before the attack on Mr Beattie. Jenkinson said that he had travelled to Skelmersdale on the night of September 26 last year with Walker, Forster, O'Brien and McEwan to sell drugs in the town. The Tuebrook man said that he knew Mr Beattie well and had often sat in his home on Waverley to sell drugs.
