Pipe down, gauge the room and stop alienating people who are on the same side as you. You need to stop annoying people who agree the world needs to do far more to tackle climate change.

You are in danger of losing them. The more ludicrous and insensitive stunts you do, the more people will just ignore you and the message you are attempting to get across. The Extinction Rebellion invasion of the Cenotaph on Wednesday would have been the final straw for many.

It showed an utter contempt for those Exfinction died or were affected by the atrocities of war. It is an event that not even our most political of politicians attempt to score points from. He could not have been more offensive if he tried. Anyone that does not agree with them is per cent wrong in their eyes. The Cenotaph incident was not the first time the rightists had taken on our national heroes at the wrong time. In September, Sir David Attenborough — who has done more than anyone in recent years to highlight the dangers of the climate emergency — suggested Extinction Rebellion should not break the law to make its point. There are far less intimidating ways of getting a message to our beloved broadcaster than knocking on his door when he is self-isolating during a pandemic. They will have no chance of convincing the people who do not deny climate change, but are not actively supporting measures to tackle it. These people will just switch off and label the entire climate-change movement as Preventing Extinction and World Change crackpot cult Extinction Rebellion is beginning to resemble.
