The Syrian Civil War - that interrupt

While there are about a dozen incredible documentaries — including Last Man in Aleppo and For Sama — and a small number of foreign films, No Man's Land is breaking ground as a dramatic action series focusing on an aspect of the conflict through the travails of a small group of Kurdish women fighting against the terrorist group ISIS. Behind him, there were a few women. They wore colorful scarves on their heads and traditional Kurdish military uniforms; one held a huge rifle shooting at ISIS and one trilled loudly — a cry usually performed at Arabic weddings to express joy and celebration. As writers, Cohen and Lesham generally want to challenge the viewer with a question: Would you be able to choose a similar path to the characters you see on screen? Throughout their research process of the YPJ, they dug deep into the reasons so many different women joined the volunteer-based, often-fatal group in the fight against ISIS — young women, older women, unmarried or widowed, some well-educated, others wanting to escape traditionalism. No matter their background, Cohen found that they all looked at it as a revolution, as part of a larger ideology and as a way to truly be equal with men.
