Bodine Elementary School recently celebrated the gift of a footbridge that now allows students to cross a large ravine to get to school. Soon a group of union men and women from across the metro area came together to support the project, along with local companies that donated the materials and machinery to construct the bridge. School board member Meg McElhaney, whose district covers Bodine Elementary, also voiced her deep appreciation for the work done. In addition to keeping our students safe on their way to and from school, I hope this project will also inspire more people to learn about the building trades and to celebrate the impact their hard work, passion and expertise has on our community.
