Janis Lyn Joplin January 19, — October 4, was an American singer-songwriter who sang rock , soul and blues music. One of the most successful and widely known rock stars of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals [1] and "electric" stage presence. In , Joplin rose to fame following an appearance at Monterey Pop Festival , where she was the lead singer of the then little-known San Francisco psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She appeared at the Woodstock festival and the Festival Express train tour. Joplin died of an accidental heroin overdose in aged 27 , after releasing three albums. A fourth album, Pearl , was released in January , just over three months after her death. It reached number one on the Billboard charts. Their headlights swept across the road in front of them and standing by the side of the road, near the guardrail of the concrete bridge, was a huge canine creature. The girls were so frightened when telling me that it took a bit to calm them down enough to get some sense out of them.
The road is a north south road, and the sighting was a quarter mile from town. The bridge is just a small one that goes over a runoff creek, and my guess is the dogman was too big to go under it but had to go over the road, and was coming up the draw from the creek bottom. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
