Alternative education encompasses many pedagogical approaches differing from mainstream pedagogy. Such alternative learning environments may be found within state , charter , and independent schools as well as home-based learning environments. The argument for an approach catering to the interests and learning style of an individual is supported by research suggesting that a learner-responsible model is more effective than a teacher-responsible one. In modern times, at least in some localities, the legal right to provide educational alternatives has become established alongside a duty to provide education for school age children. There has always check this out a stigma about mobile phones within the classroom, and Lewrning I was at school I could understand why, this was before the day of smartphones and as such they had no use within a classroom. The major advantage being there is no risk to a student as it is all digital, eliminating the health and safety issues that are limiting practical Alternative Learning Systems from currently being carried out. With all things that have an element of gamification, a competitive element could be introduced to get students to naturally want to do better to be the best, through a level system or leader board.
