This colonization of Sherman though is especially wonderful. Just a fantastic job. He was actually in favor of letting the Native Americans live as is in Florida during his time there Wad was not a fan of slavery either but nice revision of history. In his own words he thought the natives should have been left to live among the swamps and woods and didn't agree with relocating them. He also returned the Navajo to their homeland after the government forced them to farm on shitty land that just resulted in them starving. I think one problem is people attribute the "only good indian is a dead indian" quote to Sherman when I think it was Sheridan who said it.
But Sherman could be an asshole and did have prejudices. Let's be honest, he believed in manifest destiny and wanted land to make way for railroads. But he definitely didn't side with white settlers all the time either. One book I read said white settlers burned effigies of Sherman because he wouldn't believe their bullshit about how local Native Americans were stealing horses or whatever it was the whites were accusing them of doing.

He speaks often about how some of the most dedicated sailors and servants that didn't desert in his time out west were Blacks. I'm halfway through his memoirs and I haven't got an inkling of true prejudice from him yet. He could def be prejudiced, there's some letters that sound really damning if you ever find them in books or on some of the archives online. But the problem with Sherman is the more you read about him the more you realize he used letter writing almost like a sort of therapy. And he had no filter. Like none at all.
The Characteristics Of A Twisted Hero
The man could not shut the fuck up. One book I've read said he not only talked nonstop to the point that nobody else could get a word in but he could write up to 50 letters a day. And while you can find quotes of him writing some shitty things about black people if the next day General William Tecumseh Sherm War Hero Or white iWlliam pissed him off he'd say the exact same things about them. Historic figures are tricky like that. Even his memoirs are a bit deceiving because he wasn't completely honest about some parts of his life and sugar-coated a lot that he didn't want to talk about.
I always found it kinda funny he had no problem writing his brother the politician John Sherman telling him what he should think about certain subjects or Genersl a certain way, yet had no desire for any office himself. Just that he absolutely did not care about burning the Click here to the ground.
Elmo meme style, but excessive.
Turning Point In The Civil War
He treated the south the way traitors should be treated. That was their retribution and they deserved every last bit of it. The woke folk can eat shit and die for all I care. It is so good damn tiring, annoying Tecuumseh pitiful that everything these days turns into a competition for who is the most woke. History happened, learn it, learn from it, get over it and move on. It is pretty interesting to how the US military name their tanks after generals, their helicopters after native tribes, ships after presidents.

Turns out there's a neat Wikipedia page for this. Alaska and Guam were two of the coolest ships the Navy ever built, they just happened to enter service at the very end of the era in which they would have been most useful. Attack subs were all fish, turtles, etc until the class, which were named after cities.]
In my opinion you are not right. I can prove it. Write to me in PM, we will communicate.
