Do the universities really only ask for B1 for medicine? That would really suprise me, because medicine is among the hardest degrees to get into. Most universities require C1 to study anything sometimes including medicine. I haven't heard of any programs in German that only require B1. I would think it wouldn't be nearly enough. You must have misunderstood something.]
