Pesquisadores e estudantes do Instituto Le\u00f4nidas & Maria Deane (ILMD\/Fiocruz Amaz\u00f4nia) expuseram durante esta quarta-feira (29\/11) trabalhos cient\u00edficos desenvolvidos na Fiocruz Amaz\u00f4nia para pesquisadores da Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) que est\u00e3o em Manaus para discutir sobre parasitologia, terapias e medicamentos.<\/p>\n
O estudo \u201cFlies in the ointment: Onchocerciasis vector bites are significantly reduced by the skin application of mineral oil during human landing catches\u201d, foi apresentado pelo doutorando T\u00fallio Ribeiro. J\u00e1 o mestrando Yago Santos apresentou o projeto \u201cAre standard Wolbachia detection tools over-estimating the prevalence of Wolbachia infections in mosquitoes?\u201d.<\/p>\n
Para Yago, a oportunidade de dialogar com os pesquisadores de Liverpool \u00e9 de grande relev\u00e2ncia para o desenvolvimento dos estudos realizados na Institui\u00e7\u00e3o. \u201cPodemos apresentar os trabalhos para pesquisadores que possuem grandes experi\u00eancias em \u00e1reas correlatas com as nossas e que puderam dar muitas contribui\u00e7\u00f5es para melhorar nossos trabalhos, aperfei\u00e7oar detalhes para futuras publica\u00e7\u00f5es. \u00c9 sempre importante falar do que estamos fazendo aqui na Fiocruz Amaz\u00f4nia principalmente para pesquisadores renomados, que futuramente podem viabilizar recursos para desenvolvermos novos projetos, novos desafios e perguntas.<\/p>\n
Segundo o diretor do ILMD\/Fiocruz Amaz\u00f4nia, S\u00e9rgio Luz, a visita dos pesquisadores possibilita colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com a LSTM. \u201cS\u00e3o pesquisadores de uma institui\u00e7\u00e3o de grande import\u00e2ncia na pesquisa, que tem tradi\u00e7\u00e3o e trabalhos relevantes na parte de sa\u00fade p\u00fablica. Essa parceria \u00e9 uma oportunidade n\u00e3o s\u00f3 de se ter projetos de colabora\u00e7\u00e3o, mas tamb\u00e9m abre portas para outras coopera\u00e7\u00f5es que atendam aos nossos estudantes e corpo t\u00e9cnico n\u00e3o s\u00f3 em fil\u00e1rias, mas tamb\u00e9m em outros temas\u201d.<\/p>\n
Durante a manh\u00e3, os pesquisadores do LSTM estiveram na Funda\u00e7\u00e3o de Medicina Tropical Heitor Vieira Dourado (FMT-HVD), para conhecer as instala\u00e7\u00f5es e pesquisas desenvolvidas na Institui\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

EVENT PROGRAMME FOR THE 30.11.2017<\/strong><\/p>\n 9:00- 12:00<\/strong> \u2013Project proposal wrapping up meeting: closed session<\/p>\n During this session, the LSTM team and Fiocruz researchers will select specific research project proposals and specific funding calls that collaborative joint grant applications can be submitted to.\u00a0 The LSTM team and Fiocruz researchers will decide on a firm agenda for the preparation of grant-application submission with clearly delineated tasks for each of the applicants.<\/p>\n 12-00-14-00<\/strong> \u2013 Special lunch<\/p>\n Dr Luz will take our LSTM guest to a special restaurant so our guest can sample the best of traditional Amazonia food and drink.<\/p>\n 14-00- 17:00<\/strong> \u2013Project proposal spill-over meeting or free session.<\/p>\n Depending on the progress of the meeting and the desires of our LSTM guests, this session can be used to resolve out-standing issues from earlier discussions or can be used for tourist activities. The Brazilian Amazon has a lot to offer tourists and we will be glad to show our guests the parts that most interest them.
